Back in the days when Riccardo Tisci announced his departure from Givenchy after 12 years of service we were all wondering what’s next for the leading French fashion house. To be honest, it was hard to imagine Givenchy without Tisci. But Clare Waight Keller picked up right where Riccardo Tisci left off. Keller’s debut RTW Spring 2018 collection for the brand shown during Paris Fashion Week got approved by the die-hard Givenchy fans. Now the designer is back with a street-ready spring drop that carries the trending athleisure aesthetic.
After her great success as a creative director of Chloé, Clare Waight Keller proved that she is ready for the next chapter. Although she is with Givenchy from recently, Waight Keller dared to make significant changes in the brand’s aesthetic. She designs more salable and wearable stuff, opposite of the adventurous high-fashion that you could expect from Givenchy in the past. The streetwear function-meets-fashion style is having a moment right now. Youngsters like to feel comfortable in what they are wearing. No wonder why the athleisure has gotten so far. It’s a new form of high fashion that’s here to make your life easier. Waight Keller was wise enough to sense the need of shifting towards a more wearable high-fashion. That’s why Givenchy’s latest drop has everything to carry you from a restaurant to the gym. Each piece from the collection is easy to mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe. Givenchy dropped shorts, tees, sweaters, sneakers and more. The collection features predominantly sporty pieces ready to get you on point for the gym as well as hiking with your friends.
The Spring 2018 collection has essential pieces spiced up with the brand’s logo. Everyone seems to be obsessed with logomania right now, so Clare made sure to include the brand’s logo as much as possible. The bags have a moment in the collection. Clare Waight Keller had a huge success with accessories at Chloé and she is on a mission to exceed that level of success at Givenchy. She designed a decent-size bags enough to carry all your essentials decorated with the brand’s logo and stars. In fact, the star print had a central point in the collection being present on everything from sweaters to socks. Surprisingly enough, socks are one of the hottest accessories at the moment.
