Last night, Anthony Vaccarello and YSL set Paris on fire. The City of Lights literally sparkled only for Saint Laurent. For the most mind-blowing start of Paris Fashion Week, Anthony chose the epicenter of the city. When everyone thought that Lagerfeld building an Eifel Tower for his show was epic, Vaccarello went to new extremes. The venue of the extraordinary show was no less but the fountain of Trocadero, right in the base of the Eifel Tower.
An impressive list of celebrities, influencers and bloggers got to enjoy the exclusive view of the Tower, that started sparkling the same moment when the show began. Lenny Kravitz, Robin Wright, Kate Moss, Courtney Love, Chiara Ferragni all filled the front rows, wearing striking YSL outfits.
Vaccarello was inspired by the history of the fashion house and wanted to pay “a tribute to the atelier and to Paris and to that savoir-faire.”. It was also an emotional show, mostly because of the recent passing of Pierre Berge. Berge was the other half of the YSL duo, Yves right hand, and the businessman who led the Fashion house to the top.
Last night’s show was a beautiful travel through history. It all started with Saint Laurent’s villa in Marrakesh. The oriental vibe inspired amazing boho creations that heated up the catwalk. This influence led to sparkling wide blouses and capes made of sheer materials. Vaccarello matched them with daring leather shorts and striking accessories. Even ruffles got to be a part of the collection but done in such a glamorous way that only Anthony can pull off.
A large part of the collection was inspired by the haute couture creations of Saint Laurent. Vaccarello didn’t miss the chance to involve his own signature style and give the high-end looks a dose of drama and chic. Black sequins were used in the most beautiful way. Embroidery was mesmerizing and delicate. The standout part of the night was presented with huge, voluminous, pouf creations that left everyone breathless. Anja Rubik wore one of the voluminous dresses in red leather, while Kaia Gerber appeared in a black sequined one.
Vaccarello made sure to bring a stunning and memorable start of Paris Fashion Week, not only because of the setting. The designs were an amazing mix of history and present, radiated with glamour and elegance. Needless to say, Anthony set the scale very high for the shows to follow in the next few days.
